Bavarian Beer Hall

So fans... a Bavarian Beer Hall.

Not very hard to find in Munich, although harder to read the menu! Despite the fact that we went to one of the most famous beer halls in Munich - there was no English anything. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't put off because they chose to only print it in German - I am the visitor.... its just that it added somewhat of a risk when placing your order!

So after several minutes - Matt and I ordered beer to help stall the older gentleman who was our server. Matthew and I both ordered variation of a Raddler. I ordered one made with Stiegl, but Matthew ordered one made with an amber beer instead called Dunkel Raddler.

Me drinking a cup of beer the size of my head...
Then, with little else to stall the next visit of our server - Matt and I got down to business interpreting the menu. Now, this wasn't the first time we hadn't had English menus - but you'd be surprised at what you can piece together on an Italian menu (like prosciutto or pollo). German - we had less to go on.

In the end, Matthew and I latched onto words which meant something we recognized... Matthew choice was "Wiener Schnitzel" (Lame, I know) and I picked one that had champignon (technically french, but apparently the Germans also use it for Mushrooms).

In the end, we ended up with a less shocking wiener schnitzel with the vinegar based German potato salad (which Matt actually liked! shocking!) along with a lingonberry sauce... while mine was a pork(?) and mushroom stew with fried spaetzle. All in all, it was very good... if heavy and when you also add in the beer - Matt and I were in a "Bavarian Carbs Coma" for the next couple of hours!
